Whisper of the Heart - Shizuku Tsukishima, a 14 year old high school girl notices "Seiji Amasawa" on all the check cards one evening in a library. The following day Shizuku meets up with her friend Yūko Harada. In the library she sees the same name again and asks the teacher. The teacher tells her to ask the older ones. Shizuku rendezvous with Yuko and presents her the sample of the song Shizuku has been writing for graduation. Yuko mentions of the love let, but already likes another classmate – Sugimura. On her way back home, Shizuku abruptly realizes she left her back behind. She hurries back there to a find a boy of the same age reading it. He hands it to her, they talk and calls her song "corny" which leaves her feeling irritable for the rest of the night. Shizuku's sister Shiho gets home and tells on her for slacking off on her daily chores. The following day, Shiho tells Shizuku to give their father his lunch at the library. On the train heading there, Shizuku sees a lone cat. When it gets off at Shizuku's station, she decides to stalk it. It stops at an antique shop, where she sees the statue of a cat in formal clothing. The owner of the shop, Nishi-san, informs her his name is Baron Humbert von Jikkingen. He also shows her a recently restored Grandfather clock, that tells a tale of the King of the Dwarves and a Fairy Queen. Shizuku is in awe, considering the shop a place where stories begin. Inspired by Seiji's utter determination to realize his own dream, she writes a story about the feline-shaped sculpture coming to life.Video Won't Play? | Player 1 | Megavideo

what just happened...i cant believe i just sat through this entire movie.
I saw the baron story befor this and now it all makes sence this film is wonderful and a true love story :D thx for the add your anime now and thx for doing movies again :D
wow, gotta agree with anonymous here, i cant believe i even watched this movie. extreme waste of time for me. i usually like the movies they post but this just was a waste of my time.
it makes sense u just have to follow the story indirectly but then again i belong in an insane asylm

This movie was fantastic! Ok, all except for the last 1 minute, but whatever - it was a visual masterpiece. Every detail was perfectly a reminder of Asia (China for myself). So many realistic elements really made this a wonderful film...even down to the trash on the streets, the water heaters in the kitchen, riding on the back of the bicycles, etc...
Something different from the samurai slashing, demon hacking across the seven seas type of anime. I was mainly caught by the emphasis that was put into the environment outside of the characters in this movie. No high end Computer generated graphics but pure talent. It's not a sappy romance unless you let it be... it's really about a girl and how she grows to be a woman. It's a beautiful story, and as Chemical-X says, the animation itself is lovely.
Not to mention that slashing and hacking gets repetitive after a while. ;)

This is very good movie I enjoyed it. best part is no magic or sword fighting in srange world, but in real life verson.
WOw....That was way too tender for me, i love it when there is action and romance blooms with in the kaos...=) Thats how I like it lol

The story is alright, however it takes forever to develope and is not very exciting...
I recomend this movie if you like corny love stories with very litle plot content.

It was an ok movie i didnt think the graphics were all that good and i am not a fan of this type of movie to me it was a waste of time but that is only because it doesnt fit my tastes. I understand what the movie is and the storyline is excellent for this type of movie. It is done really well and like a lot of the anime/movies on YourAnimeNow.com it is a good pick. I wont watch it again however but i would recommend it to those that like the rommantic type of movies
Guys, this is not an action movie so you can't expect it to be one... also Miyazaki is the best so you should not criticize him so openly. Americans have no manners!
hey im american and i love miyazaki's work he does some of the best movies ive ever seen.this is one of his top five in my book.
also is that realy how it ends and whats the name of the other movie/movies that go with this one.

Wow! I don't usually like this type of movie- I'm more the action/fantasy type of person- but I like this. The music is cool, it has precise details, and the storyline and characterization are so well done!
~~Ok, people! If you don't like this type of a movie, don't watch it! And don't waste both yours and other people's time by commenting on what 'crap' it is! The least you can do is not comment at all and leave the others in peace. Is it so hard to not complain? You're giving us Americans a bad name! >.<
